After seven years at the number two slot, Orlando was recently ranked as the top domestic destination being booked, according to the annual Travel Leaders Survey. More than 500 leaders, owners, managers and industry experts were polled throughout the United States regarding travel trends during the final weeks of 2009. Las Vegas previously held the top ranking from 2003 though 2009.
"Orlando landing at number one shows the remarkable resiliency strength in family-oriented destinations," stated Roger E. Block, CTC, president of Travel Leaders Franchise Group, which includes locations from coast to coast. "Overall bookings are starting to trend higher, optimism is definitely on the rise, and a significant number of leisure travelers are taking advantage of current hotel prices and 'trading up' to more luxurious accommodations — which are all good signs as we head into 2010."
