Orlando Hosts CSR Luncheon at MPI WEC 2010

The Orlando CVB recently attended and hosted a luncheon during MPI WEC 2010. The educational conference — held in Vancouver on July 24-27 with more than 2,700 participants — provided an opportunity to share a side of the Orlando, the site of WEC 2011, that many attendees don’t always see.

Although the luncheon highlighted the destination’s latest attractions, hotels and entertainment, the primary focus was on participating in the wide array of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that are available during Orlando meetings and tradeshows.

Julie Larson, project manager for meetings and events at McDonald’s Corporation, shared her many successful CSR experiences in Orlando and how companies can get involved to an audience of nearly 1,300 luncheon attendees. Shawn Seipler, executive director of Clean the World, also took the stage and explained his organization’s mission of recycling the partially used soap from hotels to donate to groups that aid impoverished people from across the globe. For an emotional conclusion, Haitian musician and philanthropist Jean Beauvoir performed his song "I Keep Holding On (A Song for Haiti)."

Stay tuned to hear more about MPI WEC 2011, scheduled for July 23-26 at the Orange County Convention Center.
